Cartilage Transplants

Dr. Miller has performed multiple ACI (Autologous Chondrocyte Implantation) or Carticel procedures on patients that had defects in their knee cartilage. These defects were painful, and did not allow the patients to perform their desired daily activities and affected their quality of life. The cartilage transplant procedure requires two operations, one to harvest cartilage from the knee, and the second to "implant" the cartilage cells in the defect. This procedure allows the defect to be filled in with cartilage that is durable, and allows the patient to return to their desired activies in most cases. Prior to this new technology total knee replacement may have been the patients only option. If you would like to get more information regarding ACI visit www.carticel.com. If you want to see if you are a candidate for this procedure schedule an appointment with Dr. Miller @ (314)336-2555.
